Communications Access Realtime Translation, or CART, is a fastly growing field that ensures the benefits of full participation in education, public life, entertainment and society are accessible to all persons. In this four-part course sequence, current and prospective CART providers may acquire or refine the basic skills needed to prepare for this rewarding and exciting profession.

> Each course requires approximately 10 hours of study for the average user to complete. "The CART environment" and "CART Ethics and Practice" are suitable for any current or prospective CART provider. "CART Skills for Machine Shorthand Writers" requires the student to have achieved a machine shorthand speed of 140 wpm with 98 percent or greater accuracy on literary materials to benefit from the course. "CART Display and Equipment" is suitable for all current and prospective CART providers but contains some materials specific to machine shorthand writers.

Access time for each course is 14 calendar days from the first day of access. Some courses contain offline materials that are shipped upon purchase. You should not attempt to enter the course site until you receive your offline materials package to ensure you get the full 14 days of access.

Each course has been approved by the National Court Reporters’ Association (NCRA) for 1.0 continuing education credit (CEU). If you choose to apply for CEUs, you will need to follow the credit application procedures described in your course and pay the appropriate NCRA application fee for each course. You may download only one set of application materials per course.

Some state court reporting associations also accept NCRA approved courses toward the fulfillment of state Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) continuing education requirements. If you have any questions, contact your state association or e-mail us at education@stenograph.com.

Please note that courses are not refundable once your course user ID and password have been entered into the course login page. If you continue to access any course for longer than the 14-day access period, or if you download more than one CEU application package, your credit card may be charged an additional access fee.
