Each story on each tab is accompanied by a unique "Dictionary Dazzle Drill" that will help you build your on-air dictionary and become comfortable writing the proper nouns, number formats, combinations and phrases commonly required of broadcast closed captioners. You will also find supplemental "Dictionary Dazzle Drills" in the online resource site. Each news story has a corresponding workbook journal chapter you can download from the online resource site as many times as you need to track your progress, correct your errors and keep track of your steno outlines.
You can use the CAPTION ACCELERATOR with or without CAT, captioning or translation software. But, to get the most out of the program, we recommend using the product in conjunction with the realtime software of your choice.
The CAPTION ACCELERATOR is a part of the PERFORMANCE ACCELERATOR Series by Teresa R. Gaudet. All CDs in the Performance Accelerator Series are protected from unauthorized reproduction and installation by "1-1-1 Security: 1 License; 1 Computer; 1 User ." Each CD in each purchased volume may be licensed to only one user for installation on one computer. An Internet connection is required for the license registration process and online resource site access only. Once registered, the license cannot be transferred, nor can the CD be reinstalled.
The National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) has approved the CAPTION ACCELERATOR for continuing education credits (CEUs). If you wish to apply for CEUs, follow the procedures described in the online resource site and submit the completed application materials together with required documentation and application fee directly to the NCRA.
Application fees per CAPTION ACCELERATOR volume are $25 for NCRA members and $35 for nonmembers (as of June 1, 2002). NCRA application fees are set by the NCRA and may change without notice. For more information, contact the NCRA at 800-272-NCRA (6272).
Some machine shorthand reporter state associations also accept NCRA-approved training toward the fulfillment of state Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) continuing education requirements. If you have any questions, contact your state association or e-mail us at education@stenograph.com.
